My name is Dr. Kevin Baiko, and I would like to represent you in North Carolina's 3rd Congressional District.

As a liberty-minded conservative who believes our government should follow its own rule book - The U.S. Constitution - I greatly admired and respected Representative Walter Jones, and was shocked and saddened to learn of his untimely death.  Heaven knows our country needs more legislators like him!  Law makers should be expected to thoughtfully consider and best represent their own constituents.  I am confident I can fill his post honorably, and that's why I'm running to continue his legacy as a statesman in the US House of Representatives.

In summary, I believe we should:

1. Protect & Uphold The Constitution

I fiercely oppose efforts to undermine the integrity of our Republic and its Constitution, most especially its First & Second Amendments.

2. Make America Our Priority

I defend our identity as a nation and the Liberty WE stand for in the world.  OUR government should serve OUR people, and its policies (foreign and domestic) should be in the best interests of its own citizens.   I stand for fortified borders and well-regulated immigration.

3. Keep The Market Free

My goal is to minimize regulation & taxation to maximize economic prosperity.  I support free trade and sound monetary policy.

4. Affirm Family Values

Our society's stability is a direct reflection of the well-being of our families. I oppose governmental programs which undermine healthy family dynamics and the values these dynamics bring to society.

5. End The Drug War Against Cannabis (medical marijuana)

The drug war does far more harm than good, especially when waged against medical cannabis patients.  I stand with the nearly 80% of North Carolinians who support sensible medical cannabis legislation.  I have actively advocated this cause at the State and National levels.

Virginia Pilot article features 3 Candidates from Currituck, Incuding Dr. Kevin Baiko

Currituck physician Kevin Baiko of Moyock hopes he is set apart from others by his stance on cannabis.

"I'm standing up on the side of compassion to say what few republican politicians in Carolina have the courage to acknowledge — that being a republican and a Christian and an advocate for medical cannabis legalization aren't mutually exclusive," he said in an email.

All three from Currituck support conservative issues, but say they would not vote lock-step with Trump.

Elizabeth City's Daily Advance article features Candidate Kevin Baiko

Baiko says he’s running for Congress because he “cares about our country and respects its constitution” and believes the nation’s freedoms and values need to be preserved. He supports free markets, the freedom to bear arms, well-enforced borders and a well-regulated immigration system. He also supports “making America our priority,” he said.

The issue that’s likely to set him apart from most other candidates in the 3rd District race, however, is his support for legalizing medical marijuana.

“I feel somebody needs to stand up for this cause and raise awareness of it,” he said. “It’s a large part of my overall platform.”

Baiko believes most Americans support a “sensible drug policy” that includes legalizing medical marijuana. He notes an Elon University poll that found 80 percent of North Carolinians support legalizing medical marijuana. He says the issue “isn’t a partisan one for voters,” but legislators continue to block legalization — to their constituents’ detriment.

“People are unnecessarily suffering and dying because of our drug policy and it needs to be changed,” he said.
Asked how he thinks he’ll fare in what’s generally considered a conservative-leaning district, Baiko says he believes he “stands a great chance” of winning given all that he stands for.

“I am a Christian and a conservative,” he said. “And I don’t think my advocacy for medical marijuana is mutually exclusive to those things.”
